The anatomy of discipleship

jesus disciples2

Even though the Biblical term “disciple” might seem unfamiliar or ambiguous in our modern world – particularly in western culture – becoming a disciple of Jesus is as essential today as it was when the first 12 disciples walked with Christ. It is a journey filled with profound meaning and purpose characterised by the following beautiful qualities:

    1. Availability to Jesus: The best form of capability is availability. In a world filled with distractions, are you willing to unplug from the noise and open the door of your heart to make yourself available to Him? What might be the potential distractions that hinder your availability as a follower of Jesus, and how can you overcome them?

    1. Intently Observing Jesus: Discipleship is about keenly watching and learning from the life of Jesus. It’s about studying His teachings, actions, and the way He lived with a desire to imitate Him in character and ministry.

    1. Serving and Making Disciples for Jesus: Are you making disciples for Jesus? True disciples become beacons of His love and grace, not only enjoying knowing Jesus themselves, but wholeheartedly committed to guiding others towards a relationship with Him.

The sacred commitment to walk in Christ’s footsteps, to be a disciple of Jesus, to be His hands and feet in the world, to be His voice, and to allow His light to shine through you is a journey you can take today.
